Big Second Half Propels Tartans to Win Over Bishop Diego

St. Margaret's rattled off 28 unanswered points in the second half to secure the 42-15 victory over the visiting Cardinals.
Despite a rocky first half, the Tartans improved to 5-1 with a 42-15 win over CIF-SS Division IV opponent Bishop Diego. Special teams miscues plagued the Tartans to start the game, with the Cardinals blocking a punt for a touchdown and scoring a safety on another Tartan punt attempt. But a tremendous offensive second half for the Tartans quickly put the game out of reach for Bishop Diego.

Running back Alex Lanham was a force on the ground for the Tartans, scoring three rushing touchdowns including a 62-yard score in the fourth quarter. Quarterback James Mott threw for 162 yards including two touchdowns to receiver Will Kenner. Mott also added a rushing touchdown on the first score of the game.

The Tartan defense also came alive in the second half, allowing only two Cardinal first downs, causing two turnovers and a blocked field goal. St. Margaret's was led by Koa Todd and Nick Falshaw's combined ten tackles and six assists while defensive backs Stuart Pollard and Alex Smith added an interception each in the win.

The Tartans will wrap up its non-league schedule on the road against Santa Fe Christian on Friday, September 28 at 3:00 p.m.
