Cross Country Teams Perfect in First Academy League Meet

The Tartan cross country teams embarked on their first league test on Monday afternoon, competing in the first Academy League Cluster Meet at Mason Park in Irvine. St. Margaret's mastered the route with the Tartans compiling a perfect score of 15 in both events.

For the boys, senior Matt Colglazier led the way for the Tartans with a 5:22 pace to finish first at 16:07.21. Colglazier was supported by Calvin Capell (2nd 16:24.72), Chris Chan (3rd 16:39.59), Robbie Graham (4th 16:42.28), Harrison Tanaka (5th 17:11.07) and Grant Kinsey (6th 17:21.47) in the first-place finish. St. Margaret's was followed by Sage Hill (52), St. Michael's (95), Pacifica Christian (98), Brethren Christian (121), Tarbut V'Torah (174) and Saddleback Valley Christian (177).

On the girls side, St. Margaret's maintained a strong pack at the top of the race with freshman Amelia Kang (18:45.64), senior Andi Carnell (19:17.62) and sophomore Claire Mullen (20:01.90) finishing 1-2-3 respectively. Julia Martin (4th 20:11.38), Madeline Arundale (5th 20:35.04), Katherine Collier (6th 20:36.51) and Charlotte Jones (7th 20:44.44) completed the scoring for the Tartans. St. Margaret's finished first, leading Sage Hill (50), Saddleback Valley Christian (85) and Brethren Christian (114).

“You never know what to expect when entering a new league, but it was an impressive day for both teams," said head coach Patrick Bendzick. "Posting a perfect score is always fun, but more importantly, the team did an excellent job dissecting a relatively technical race course.”

The Tartans will compete next at the Clovis Invitational on Saturday, October 6.
