Tartans Honored at Spirit of the MACY Awards for The Drowsy Chaperone
The Drowsy Chaperone was one of 10 productions to receive The Spirit of the Macy Award.
St. Margaret’s production of The Drowsy Chaperone was honored with The Spirt of the Macy Award during a ceremony last week at Segerstrom Hall.
There were 57 high school musical productions adjudicated by the MACY judges this year, and The Drowsy Chaperone was one of 10 to receive The Spirit of the Macy Award. St. Margaret’s students also were invited to perform an excerpt from The Drowsy Chaperone at the ceremony on the Segerstrom Hall stage.
The MACY Awards, short for Music and Arts Commendation for Youth, have been awarded to Southern California performing arts students since 1969. MACY directors and judges attend shows in Orange, San Diego, Riverside and Los Angeles counties to carefully select winners in a number of categories.
In addition, 18 Tartans received individual recognition at the awards ceremony for The Drowsy Chaperone, which was directed by Caleb Goh:
