College-Bound! Presenting the Class of 2018

On Saturday, the 121 seniors of the Class of 2018 will receive their St. Margaret’s Episcopal School diplomas. They graduate as the largest class in St. Margaret’s history, well-prepared to enter 77 colleges and universities across the United States that will welcome them this fall.

In all, students will head to schools in 27 states. Thirty-seven seniors will attend a college or university in California, while out-of-state locations welcoming Tartans include Texas (13), Massachusetts (9), New York (7), Oregon (7) and Pennsylvania (6).

The Class of 2018’s college choices include Amherst College, Boston College, Brown University, Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, Duke University, Fordham University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New York University, Northwestern University, Rice University, Stanford University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles, University of Chicago, University of Michigan, University of Oregon, University of Pennsylvania, Washington University in St. Louis, and Yale University.

In addition, students in the Class of 2018 will head to 22 schools where no Tartan alumni currently attend. That list includes Case Western Reserve University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Harvey Mudd College, Marquette University, Miami University in Oxford, Northeastern University, Oberlin College, Portland State University, Rhodes College, The University of Alabama, The University of Texas, United States Naval Academy, University of Georgia, Vanderbilt University, and Washington and Lee University.

Also, 22 schools from across the country will receive multiple Tartans from the Class of 2018. That list includes Southern Methodist University (8), University of Southern California (6), University of California, Santa Barbara (5), University of Colorado at Boulder (4), University of Pennsylvania (3), University of Oregon (3), University of California, San Diego (3), University of California, Los Angeles (3), Texas Christian University (3), Northwestern University (3) and New York University (3).

“These students worked closely with college counselors to find schools that fit their strengths, skills, personalities and academic goals,” said Director of College Counseling Roland Allen. “On behalf of my colleagues in the college counseling office, Amy Warren and Jeff Jablonski, we are so proud of them and look forward to hearing of their future accomplishments.”
