St. Margaret’s Divisions Come Together for Team-Building Track Meet

The meet featured more than 120 Lower and Middle School students, who paired with members of the Upper School track and field team on hand to assist the younger Tartans throughout the day.
St. Margaret’s track and field team mentored the next wave of Tartan athletes during the St. Mary’s Invitational Track Meet recently.

The meet featured more than 120 Lower and Middle School students, who paired with members of the Upper School track and field team on hand to assist the younger Tartans throughout the day. The Upper School students led warmups, escorted the younger Tartans to their events and cheered as the younger students competed in a variety of events.

Leading up to the event, the track and field coaching staff visited Lower School physical education classes to prepare for the meet, and the Upper School track team visited with their Lower School buddies earlier in the week.

“This was such a great community-building day for St. Margaret’s,” said Patrick Bendzick, director of athletics and physical education. “Both our older and younger students really love spending time together, and this track meet allowed our older Tartans to take on a leadership role and mentor the younger students. Everybody really enjoyed it and we look forward to continuing this tradition next year.”
