Girls Basketball Enters New Year on High Note

The Tartans began 2018 and the Academy League season with a win over Brethren Christian.
St. Margaret's kicked off the new year with a 61-25 win over Brethren Christian on Jan. 3. The Tartans were led by Maddie Barkate's 20 points, including 14 points in the first half. Niki Miles contributed 15 points and freshman Alice Korolev had 10 points off the bench. Stephanie Amoukhteh was tenacious under the boards for St. Margaret's, grabbing key rebounds in the victory.

On Jan. 5, St. Margaret's tipped off against Calvary Chapel Downey, coming away with a 55-27 win at home. Niki Miles led with 22 points while Maddie Barkate had 12, with both players also tallying double-digit rebounds. Alexis Finland notched seven points and several assists for the Tartans.

St. Margaret's will hit the road to face Academy League foes Oxford Academy Wednesday, Jan. 10 and Sage Hill on Friday, Jan. 12.
