Three Tartans Selected For All-CIF Honors

Juniors John Leasure and Lauren McCaffrey were tabbed as All-CIF in soccer, while senior Tyler Horgan earned the honor in basketball.
Tartan student-athletes Tyler Horgan, John Leasure and Lauren McCaffrey have been named All-CIF Honorees for their stellar play during the 2016-2017 winter season.

Tyler Horgan - Boys Basketball

Tyler averaged 24 points and seven rebounds per game for the Tartans with a game-high of 37 points. Tyler was named a First Team All-Academy League selection and MVP of the Tartan Classic Basketball Tournament this past December.

Tartan head basketball coach Brian Carmer remarked, “It’s always satisfying to see someone with a great work ethic and team-first attitude, like Tyler, gain this kind of recognition as it represents the success of our team, which Tyler was instrumental in leading this year.”

John Leasure - Boys Soccer

John was a mainstay in the midfield for the Tartans, scoring 14 goals over the course of the season. John was also named MVP of the Academy League.

"We are very pleased to have John Leasure as part of the Divison VI All-CIF selections. With his 14 goals leading up to the CIF playoffs, he's been a consistent performer throughout the regular season and playoffs," said head coach Adam Doty.

Lauren McCaffrey - Girls Soccer

Lauren scored 12 goals for the Tartans and notched 17 assists, which ranked her second among all scorers in Orange County. Lauren was also named the Academy League MVP for her efforts during the season.

“Lauren McCaffrey is faster than most opponents and can blow by people all day. She has demonstrated such growth and maturity since last season. I was tough on her, but Lauren took our coaching and constructive criticism without a hitch this year. After every match, she left everything on the field for her teammates, and the evidence was her bloody knees, scraped elbows, and a sweat-soaked jersey,” said head coach Johnny Marmelstein.
