Boys Basketball Wins Inaugural Tartan Classic Tournament

The Tartans relied on a team effort to defeat San Juan Hills High School 64-46 in the final.
St. Margaret's defeated Pacific Ridge, Jurupa Hills and Capo Valley Christian on the road to facing the San Juan Hills Stallions in the finals of the inaugural Tartan Classic Basketball Tournament. Senior Tyler Horgan led all scorers with 22 points as junior Jay Phansalkar added 16 in the 64-46 championship win over the Stallions on Saturday night.

Horgan, who averaged 24 points per game over the tournament, was also named tournament MVP while senior Brennan Campbell was recognized as an All-Tournament Team selection. The Tartans also received significant contributions from senior Nick Visconti with nine rebounds per game and junior Ryan Cragun with three steals per game.

St. Margaret's will return to the hardwood on Monday, Dec. 19, hosting Xavier College all the way from Melbourne, Australia and Wednesday, Dec. 21, hosting Aliso Niguel. Game times are 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively, in the Pasternack Field House.
