Tartans Prevail in First Round of CIF-SS Football Playoffs

St. Margaret's shook off the underdog label fairly quickly in a 55-14 win over North Torrance High School.
St. Margaret's took its first step towards a seventh CIF-SS Championship, completely dismantling the higher seeded North Torrance Saxons. The Tartans rattled off 55 unanswered points after trailing by six early in the game.
 
The Tartans were led by receiver Auston Locke's four touchdowns and 180 yards receiving while quarterback George Krantz was 17/22 passing for 317 yards and six passing touchdowns and one rushing. Receiver Ryan Cragun had two touchdowns and 110 yards with Marcus Knight adding a touchdown and 54 yards through the air.
 
Defensively, the Tartans were stifling, holding the Saxons scoreless for two quarters. James Eidt had six tackles, two for a loss, and a team-high three sacks. Logan Smith, Roger Penske and Max Martinez added a sack each while Nick Krantz and Nick Amoukhteh recovered a pair of North Torrance fumbles. Ryan Cragun hauled in an interception for the Tartans.
 
St. Margaret's will face Norte Vista in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 7 playoffs at home, Friday, November 18.
