Middle School geography wizzes impressed all as they completed for the top three spots in St. Margaret’s Annual National Geographic Geography Bee. Colin Miehe, grade 8, won the title of Geo Bee Champ for the second year in a row; Blake Boada, grade 6, received second place and Luca Carson, grade 8, received third place. To secure their titles, each student demonstrated their knowledge of national and world geography during such rounds as: U.S. Road Trip, Discover National Parks and Awesome Adventures. Colin will take the qualifying test for a chance to advance to the state level, which is held in Sacramento each year.

In preparation for the bee, each Middle School history class administered a qualifying quiz in order to determine the top 30 contestants, with 10 students representing each grade level.

“The Geography Bee has been a long standing tradition within our history department for many years, and is an exciting way to increase student interest in U.S. and world geography,” said Middle School history and social science teacher Katie Harris.
