Kleinhanzl's Three Touchdowns Propel Tartans Past Portola

St. Margaret's gets first league win in a tight 24-15 battle.
St. Margaret's football program picked up its first league victory with a 24-15 win over visiting Portola High School this past Friday.

Jack Kleinhanzl caught 3 touchdowns and had 108 yards on 7 receptions to lead St. Margaret's over the Bulldogs. Quarterback Kai Letcher went 13 for 18 with 196 yards while connecting with Kleinhanzl for the Tartans' three touchdowns. Grant Holcomb was also a favorite target of Letcher, hauling in 4 catches for 40 yards.

Defensively, Holcomb (14 tackles) and Pierce Fournier (14 tackles) held Portola in check all evening. Midway through the fourth quarter, Gavin Taylor forced a fumble that Ethan Lavender recovered, setting up a Gareth Thomas(1 fg, 3 pat) 36-yard field goal to seal it for the Tartans.

St. Margaret's (5-2, 1-1 league) next faces Sunny Hills (3-4, 1-1 league) in a league contest on the road on Friday, Oct. 16.
