The day began following the House League assembly, as grade 5 students boarded buses bound for the trailhead of the iconic Patriot Hill—also known as the Flagpole hike. The grade 5 students hiked the scenic trail while participating in a House League-themed conversation challenge that fostered camaraderie and teamwork.

At the summit, Lower School science teacher David Beshk captivated students with insights into the local terrain and the distant Channel Islands. He connected the landscape to current science lessons and built excitement for the upcoming spring retreat to Santa Cruz Island in May. After a well-earned break and a chance to admire the hillside views, the group trekked back to campus.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to giving back. Students prepared nutritious meals for Welcome INN, assembling fruit bowls, sandwiches, snack bags, and decorating serving bags with drinks and treats. Later, after school concluded, several families joined to serve the meals at Doheny State Park, where Welcome INN partners provide daily support to those in need.
