Tartan Football Remains Undefeated with 35-7 Win

2-0 St. Margaret's rocked St. Anthony this past Friday.
St. Margaret's football program delivered a 35-7 win over visiting St. Anthony on Friday on Tartan Field to stay unbeaten at 2-0.

Jack Kleinhanzl hauled in 2 receiving touchdowns with 6 catches for 155 yards to keep the Tartans moving past the Saints. Quarterback Kai Letcher threw for 177 yards, going 14/20 with 2 touchdowns in the win.

The Tartans and Saints battled to an 8-0 St. Margaret's lead at halftime before Graham Holcomb (1 car, 19 yds, 1 TD) put the Tartans comfortably ahead 14-0 in the third. The Saints quickly answered back with an 80-yard kickoff return and an extra point to close the gap to 15-7. That was all St. Anthony could muster in front of a stifling Tartan defense. Holcomb dominated that side of the ball, notching 8 tackles (3 solo, 5 assist), an interception, as well as a safety. Sawyer Collins (1 sack, 6 tackles, fumble recovery) Zack Mulroy (6 tackles) and Ethan Lavender (4 tackles) anchored St. Margaret's defense. Charlie Allen (5 tackles, 1 pick 6), Jack Kleinhanzl (2 tackles, 1 int) and Henry Beshk (2 tackles, 1 int) also recorded interceptions in the game.

St. Margaret's offensive attack was managed on the ground by running back Sam Orellana (15 carries, 170 yds, 1 TD) and in the air by Gavin Taylor (3 rec, 17 yds) and Sammy Grant-Lewis (3 rec, 12 yds).

Kicker Gareth Thomas was 3-for-4 on field goal attempts.

The Tartans will hit the road to take on Fountain Valley in a non-league matchup on Thursday, Sept. 10.
