St. Margaret's had 16 athletes competing in over 23 events at the prelims.
St. Margaret's track & field program had a strong showing at last week's CIF-SS Preliminary round, advancing 12 Tartans to the CIF-SS Finals at Moorpark High School on May 16.

The boys 4x400 team of Charles Martin, Cameron White, Zach Causee and Lucas Monge had a first-place finish with a 3:26.66 time, breaking a school record that stood for 9 years to advance to the finals. Also advancing, the boys 4x100 team of Lucas Monge, Ocean Heim, Kai Letcher and Cameron White had a sixth-place finish (43.36), breaking a school record set a week prior at the league finals.

Maddux Labovitch, Malcolm Capelle, Zaiden Gurusamy and Zach Causee, competing in the first-ever CIF 4x800 event, finished sixth overall (8:24) and qualified for the final.

In the pole vault, Lia Frick cleared 9'0" while Sawyer Collins cleared 11'6", securing their spots in the final.

Ocean Heim advances to the final with a 41'73/4" mark in the tripple jump.

Rounding out St. Margaret's results were Heidi Beshk, Malcolm Capelle and Samarth Wadhwa qualifying as alternates in the 1600m and 3200m events.

"I am incredibly proud of the work this team continues to put in each week and am so proud of the way that they represent St. Margaret's in such a positive way. Every one of them gives it their all in every event they compete in and is willing to put aside their own events to step up and help the team," said head coach Ryan Thompson. "So many of our athletes who qualified for Prelims and competed are freshmen, sophomores and juniors, which shows that this team has the potential to continue to grow and develop over the next few years.”
