Tartans Cut Down Cypress 3-2 in CIF Div. II Playoff Opener

Boys volleyball will face San Clemente in the quarterfinal round.
St. Margaret's boys volleyball team opened the CIF-SS Div. II postseason with a close 3-2 win against visiting Cypress High School.

A back-and-forth battle saw the Tartans win the first and third games while Cypress fought hard for wins in the second and fourth. Both teams clashed in the fifth and final game with Cypress momentarily gaining the upper hand 14-12, but St. Margaret's tied it up with strong side out play and a clutch defensive stop to ultimately pull out the 18-16 win.

Mile Eaton led for the Tartans with 22 kills on 51 attempts, with Beckett Harvey adding 19 kills on 34 attempts. Ry O Hill and Botty O'Kane added 10 and 8 kills, respectively. The Tartans relied on an exceptional serve efficiency of 95% to see off the Centurions.

St. Margaret's (24-4) will take on San Clemente (16-11) in the quarterfinal round on May 5 at home.
