St. Margaret's Equestrian Riding High After Winter Competitions

The Tartans currently sit in 1st place overall in the OCIEL.
St. Margaret's Equestrian team had a great showing at the January and February Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian League, with the Tartans currently in 1st place in overall school standings for the 2025-2026 season. St. Margaret's is currently in 2nd place in the beginner school and 1st place in the freshman school division standings for the season. The depth of the St. Margaret's team, with competitors earning points in most divisions, helps secure the 1st place overall school standing.

The team wrapped up the third show of the OCIEL season on Saturday, February 28, at The Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano with impressive results. The Tartans were named the overall school champion for the show.
The competition drew experienced riders and a field of 37 schools from Southern California, and the Tartans were up to the challenge.

Bella Coveyou rode to a 2nd-place finish in the varsity jumpers division for the Tartans. Charlotte Coveyou is currently in third place in the JV jumpers division. In addition, Mia Zadjmool was named the freshman Equitation Reserve Champion for the Tartans, while Eleanora Dornin competed in the freshman jumpers class and was Champion. Mia and Eleanora's combined results earned St. Margaret's school champion in the freshman division.

The Tartan Equestrian team is currently the only St. Margaret's athletic team featuring students from the Upper School, Middle School, and Lower School divisions.

"I want to share how proud I am of this entire team, our riders, our horses, and especially our families, who make all of this possible. Riding is such a special privilege, and one that should be acknowledged as such," said Tartan Equestrian Team Coordinator Abby Illenberger.
