St. Margaret’s Joyfully Celebrates the Return of the Swallows at the 66th Swallows Day Parade
The Tartan delegation included Lower School student leaders, Middle School Peer Counselors and RISE students, the CIF-champion Tartan girls basketball team, Upper School cheerleaders, and professional community representatives from all divisions.
St. Margaret’s Episcopal School joined the San Juan Capistrano community in celebrating the return of the swallows last weekend at the 66th annual Swallows Day Parade.
St. Margaret’s has been a proud presenting sponsor of the Swallows Day Parade for many years, and a committed group of enthusiastic Tartans marched with signs displaying the school’s core values and carrying the beloved 3D swallows made by students.
The Tartan delegation included Lower School student leaders, Middle School Peer Counselors and RISE students, the CIF-champion Tartan girls basketball team, Upper School cheerleaders, as well as professional community representatives from all divisions, including Head of School Dr. Jeneen Graham, Lower School Principal Jennifer Blount, Early School Director Stefania Rubino, Lower School Director of Community Life Tupper Spring, Middle School Teacher Meredith Vazquez, School Counselor Derek McIntire, Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach Josh Markum and Assistant Coach Jonathan Tufo.
A parade favorite and paying tribute to St. Margaret’s heritage, the LA Scots Pipe Band led the group along with Breakthrough SJC and Special Camp, which also had a large presence.
Swallows Day marks the annual return of the swallows to San Juan Capistrano and has served as a cherished celebration of the city’s storied history with thousands coming to downtown San Juan Capistrano to celebrate. St. Margaret’s has proudly called San Juan Capistrano home for more than 45 years.
A huge thank you to the students, teachers and coaches who represented St. Margaret’s, as well as the many participants who warmly greeted the Tartan delegation during this treasured community event.
