Audiences ‘Hopelessly Devoted’ to Upper School Musical Grease: School Version
Upper School students delivered a high-energy production of Grease: School Version, blending humor, heart and a deeper message about belonging and self-discovery.
Upper School students delivered a high-energy production of Grease: School Version last week in Hurlbut Theater, blending humor, heart and a deeper message about belonging and self-discovery.
The production featured 32 student performers and 24 crew members and musicians, inviting audiences to look beyond the musical’s familiar story and explore themes of identity and acceptance.
Directed by Director of the Arts Dan Pacheco, with musical direction by Lex Leigh, assistant direction by Cori Samskey and choreography by Carly Taberski, the world of Rydell High came to life with energy and sincerity. Student performers brought iconic groups such as the Pink Ladies and Burger Palace Boys to the stage with enthusiasm and polish.
Behind the scenes, the technical team elevated the production’s visual impact. Technical Director and Resident Designer Gordon Richins and Technical Arts Production Assistant Jeremy Brewer, alongside a student crew, created dynamic stage environments featuring vivid lighting, detailed scenic design and a fully staged, mobile car — a first for St. Margaret’s theater program.
“Not only did our cast and crew bring joy to our audiences, they experienced it themselves every step of the way,” Mr. Pacheco said. “Theater has a unique way of bringing people together and offering that exhilarating sense of escape.”
