All-School Spring Service Brings Tartans Together for Joy and Reflection

The service also marked the conclusion of the All-School Service Learning Project, a partnership with Unidos South OC.
The St. Margaret’s community came together for a joyful All-School Spring Service this week in Pasternack Field House, an event which also marked the conclusion of the 2026-2027 All-School Service Learning Project.

This year’s partner for the All-School Service Learning Project was Unidos South OC, a local organization with a mission to create a resident-led movement toward a thriving neighborhood as a reflection of God’s love. Specifically, Unidos works with the residents of the Capistrano Villas neighborhood in San Juan Capistrano.

The All-School Service Learning Project involved cross-divisional learning and service over the course the several months, including several creative projects and learning touchpoints. Recently, Upper School and Lower School students created tiles that were displayed at the All-School Spring Service and given to Unidos South OC for their new youth center.

Unidos South OC co-executive directors John Chapman and Heather Chapman were in attendance at the All-School Spring Service to thank the school community and share a message of loving our neighbors and embracing community and proximity. Their organization’s message was further explained by grade 5 student leaders Tyrrah and Shirley in remarks to the student body.

“Unidos understands that the people in a neighborhood are the most powerful agents of change,” Tyrrah said. “They’ve taught us that when anyone in our community is hurting, we all hurt. But also, when anyone in our community is thriving, we all thrive. And that’s what we want: for everyone to thrive!”

The All-School Service Learning Project officially concluded with a beautiful performance of “Pescador de Hombres” by Upper School and Middle School choral students under the direction of music teacher Adela Kwan.

The All-School Spring Service also included readings and prayers, with one specifically for the Class of 2026 by Head of School Dr. Jeneen Graham as they enter the finals weeks of their time at St. Margaret’s.

“May they shine as models of hope, carrying the essence of St. Margaret’s spirit in all their actions and interactions,” Dr. Graham said, “illuminating paths not just for themselves, but for the world.”
