Girls Basketball Coasts to 46-29 First-Round Playoff Win
The Tartans downed San Dimas Thursday evening.
St. Margaret's girls basketball program took its first step in the CIF-SS playoffs by defeating San Dimas High School 46-29 in the first round of the Div. III playoffs in Pasternack Field House on Thursday.
Taylor Francois continued her scoring streak, notching 15 points with 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals, while Annika Tufo contributed 10 points and 2 steals. Lila Wohlgemuth added 9 points, 4 steals and 3 assists in the win.
Addie West was a defensive force for the Tartans, marking the Saints' best player and holding her to 12 points below her season average. A late offensive adjustment by the Tartans shifted the offensive scheme through West, and she responded brilliantly, keeping San Dimas on the back foot to close out the game. West finished with 2 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 4 steals.
"We are thrilled to be moving on in the CIF playoffs," said head coach Josh Markum. "It was important to get back into rhythm after having so many days between games, but I am proud of the way our kids executed defensively."
The Tartans will next face Riverside Polytechnic in the second round at home on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m.
