St. Margaret's Stings Scorpions in First-Round of CIF Girls Volleyball Playoffs
The Tartans swept Hesperia 3-0 Wednesday.
The Tartan girls volleyball team opened the CIF Div. III postseason with a convincing 3-0 win over visiting Hesperia High School on Wednesday night.
St. Margaret's relied on a focused effort with exceptional serving, totaling 13 aces against only one error in 74 attempts. Sarah MacDonald was a bright spot for the Tartans, contributing 6 aces in the match. Defensively, the Tartans leaned into strong individual efforts and transitioning Hesperia's attacks into scoring opportunities for St. Margaret's.
The offensive attack produced better diversity with a team hitting average of .326. Sami Duran led with 11 kills (.313), followed by 10 from Ella Massoudi. St. Margaret's had better balance out of middle and opposite with Malak Laraki logging 7 kills on 10 attempts (.600) and Chloe Wainwright from middle with 5 kills on 9 attempts (.444).
The Tartans will next face El Dorado High School at home in the second round on Saturday, Oct. 25.
