Tartans Trap Wildcats in CIF-SS First-Round Win

St. Margaret's girls volleyball put down a tough opponent 3-2.
St. Margaret's girls volleyball program embarked on a quest for its seventh CIF Southern Section title Wednesday, defeating Paloma Valley 3-2 on the road in the first round of the CIF-SS playoffs.

A hot Wildcat squad gave the Tartans all they could handle as St. Margaret's battled through some lopsided set scores (25-15, 12-25, 25-16, 13-25, 15-11) to move on to the second round. Ella Massoudi led the attack with 19 kills, followed by Sami Duran with 12. The Tartan middle attack - Chloe Wainwright and Arianne Bruckner -- combined for 12 additional kills. The team served with excellent efficiency (95%), led by Sara MacDonald (2 aces, no errors in 14 attempts) and Ella Bertolino (1 ace, no errors in 12 attempts).

The Tartans will again hit the road to face Cypress High School in the Second Round of the CIF-SS Div. III Playoffs on Saturday, Oct. 26. St. Margaret's looks to add to its previous titles won in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2010 and 2012.
