Tartan Golfers Qualify for CIF-SS Individual Competition
Gabby Eifrig, Annie Weng and Jessica Liu battled over two days and 27 holes to make the cut.
St. Margaret's girls golf team members Gabby Eifrig, Annie Weng and Jessica Liu qualified for CIF Southern Section Individuals after competing over two days and 27 holes at Costa Mesa Country Club this week. Eifrig finished the Orange Coast League tournament in first place (97, -8) while Weng finished in second place (105, +0) and Liu in fourth (111, +6), each qualifying for one of the seven spots reserved for the Orange Coast League at CIF-SS Individuals.
During the preliminary round on Oct. 17, 6 players qualified for day two: Eifrig (30, -5), Weng (33, -2), Liu (38, +3), Madison Lewis (40, +5), Rianne Ke (42, +7) and Talia McElfish (44, +9). Ke and Lewis were forced to withdraw from the finals on Wednesday, but the remaining four played into the second day. Most notably, Eifrig sunk a hole-in-one on hole six during the first round.
Eifrig, Weng and Liu will compete at the CIF-SS Southern Individual Regional Tournament at Los Serranos Country Club on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
St. Margaret's girls golf has had a standout year, amassing an impressive 17-0 (14-0 in league competition) record and will look to impress at the CIF-SS Division 2 Team Championship Tournament on Monday, Oct. 30 at River Ridge Golf Course.
