Tartan Basketball Athletes Earn All-CIF Nods

Four St. Margaret's student-athletes and one coach were named to the prestigious award list.
St. Margaret's basketball programs were honored with five All-CIF Southern Section award recipients for the 2022-2023 season this past week. 
 
Girls Basketball
 
Harper Gideons was named CIF-SS Div. 5AA Player of the Year for her performance throughout the 22-23 campaign. Gideons averaged 10.9 PPG, 4.5 RPG and 3.3 SPG as a sophomore. Gideons also led the Tartans to its first CIF-SS Championship with 19 points in the semifinal round
 
Freshman Taylor Francois picked up First-Team All-CIF honors with a postseason performance of 10 PPG, 7 RPG and 4 APG. Francois recorded a double-double (11 pts. 10 rbs.) in the Tartans' historic championship win.
 
Fellow freshman Lila Wohlgemuth was tabbed as a Second-Team All-CIF awardee. Wohlgemuth notched 12 PPG., shot 50% from the three-point arc and had 19 three-pointers in five playoff games for the Tartans.
 
Head Coach Josh Markum was named Div. 5AA Coach of The Year, having guided the Tartans to its first title and a 27-7 record.
 
Boys Basketball
 
Junior Russell Frye earned Div. 4AA Second-Team All-CIF honors, producing 13.5 PPG and 4.5 APG in 2022-2023.
