Winston and Charlotte are among 700 winners for the prestigious nationwide competition, which awards finalist, honorable mention and merit awards in classical music, dance, design arts, film, jazz, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing.

Winston was one of 10 finalist winners in the film category, awarded for his short experimental film Chasm. As a finalist, Winston is invited to attend YoungArts week in Miami next month, where he can attend workshops and hands-on classes in filmmaking. In addition, his work will be evaluated for further awards and consideration to be nominated for the Presidential Scholar in the Arts award, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.

Charlotte was named a merit winner for her short documentary film Bee the Solution. She received a monetary award along with the recognition.

“I am incredibly proud of Winston and Charlotte, who challenge themselves beyond the classroom devoting long hours to the creation of their films,” St. Margaret’s film teacher Karen Bennett said. “They have both become incredibly thoughtful and impactful filmmakers.”

Both Winston’s and Charlotte’s films will be featured at St. Margaret’s Winter Film Festival, which will take place on January 20.

Congratulations to these talented Tartans!
