Early Childhood School Teachers Attend and Present at NAEYC Conference

the NAEYC annual conference is a chance for early childhood educators from around the world to connect, collaborate and learn together.
St. Margaret’s was well represented at the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s annual conference last week in Washington, D.C., Assistant Director and Pedagogista Sonia Yoshizawa presented while Early School teachers Jennifer Hardison and Sharon Benedetto also attended and participated in presentations and forums.
 
Dr. Yoshizawa’s presentation was titled “Inquiring Minds: Investigating STEM with Infants and Toddlers” which describes a new model for how infants and toddlers engage in inquiry learning and provides educators with ideas for exploring STEAM learning opportunities to support inquiry for the youngest learners. Much of her presentation discussed her latest book, Investigating STEM With Infants and Toddlers.
 
Dr. Hardison participated in the NAEYC Science Interest forum, discussing topics such as STEAM in early childhood, opportunities to engage children in science in outdoor spaces, and the integration of art and science.
 
In addition, Mrs. Benedetto and Dr. Hardison attended many sessions regarding STEAM, sensory integration, literacy and the importance of age-appropriate DEI work in early education.
 
The NAEYC is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early childhood learning for young children. Its annual conference is a chance for early childhood educators from around the world to connect, collaborate and learn together.
