The cast of 48 Middle School students performed Roald Dahl’s Matilda, Jr. in the Hurlbut Theater last week. The story of Matilda resonates with audience members of all ages which created opportunities for other divisions to get a preview of the incredible production.
Early in the week, the cast performed two special previews for the Middle School/Early School and an additional performance for the entire Lower School community. The show was directed by Katie DeShan, musically directed by Lex Leigh and choreographed by Carly Taberski.
Middle School principal Jeannine Clarke said, “The charming junior version of the musical was delightfully performed by the Middle School cast with the support of a Middle School backstage crew and stage management team.”
Technical Director and Resident Designer Gordon Richins along with Justice Musick-Corson led the 15 tech students who helped make the show happen. Grade 7 students Lauryn Harris stage managed and grade 7 student Tyler Sant assistant stage managed.
Ms. DeShan said, “I am so beyond proud of each and every one of the students. They poured their hearts and souls into this beautiful piece of theater. The show was beautiful, and the audiences loved every minute. I hope they all feel immensely proud of the work they've put into this production.”
