Tartans Thump Saddleback 44-7

St. Margaret's football program was near-perfect Friday, downing the visiting Saddleback Roadrunners 44-7. With the win, the Tartans improve to 3-2 in Orange Coast League Play.
Offensively, the Tartans were led by receiver Derek Smith's two touchdown catches and 104 reception yards. Quarterback Max Ruff went 9 for 10 with 145 yds. and two touchdown tosses. Backs Brandon Miller (47 yds rushing) and Andrew Miehe (36 yds.) each added a rushing touchdown for the Tartans.
On defense, Sam Dunnell was all over the field, tallying two sacks, five tackles and a big interception return for a touchdown. Nick Clute also hauled in a pick six, while Jordan Denes, Andrew Miehe and Leo Curran each recorded four tackles.
A highlight of the evening, kicker Nathaniel Kim nailed a spectacular 53-yard field goal in the first half.
The Tartans will look to end the league season on a high note as they face Calvary Chapel Santa Ana on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Segerstrom High School.
