Dave Post Appointed Head Surf Coach at St. Margaret's

St. Margaret's is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Post as head coach of the Tartan surf program.
Post, a former 10-year Volcom professional surf team member, brings over 18 years of coaching and working with national champions and professional tour athletes to St. Margaret's. Post has most recently served as the head coach of the surf program at Corona del Mar High School and team manager of the Jack's Surf Shop squad. Prior to that, Post had the opportunity to construct a training regimen for Team China as they prepared to compete in the ISA World Surfing Games. Post served as Pro/Am coach and team manager for Volcom at the conclusion of his professional career in 2004.
Post has volunteered with the Northern Baja Surf Club, which organizes surf days and board and wetsuit drives to benefit orphanages in Baja, Mexico, as well as with Boarder Angels which aims to help migrants by distributing clothing, food and other items. Post also works with Walk on Water, an organization that helps disabled children participate in the sport of surfing.
"The surf program is the ideal place for athletics and student health to converge. Coach Post's tremendous professional and instructional career is second to none, and we are equally excited about his philosophy of using the sport to help create healthy, happy, and productive people," said St. Margaret's Executive Director of Community Health and Athletics Patrick Bendzick. "I am extremely confident in his ability to build a championship-caliber program, and I look forward to supporting him in creating an extraordinary experience for our student-athletes."
"I am very excited to push these athletes to be better surfers but, more importantly, better humans," said coach Post. "I can't wait to share my love of the sport and the ocean with them."
The Tartans will open the 2022-2023 competition season on Sunday, November 20, at the Scholastic Surf Series opener at 9th Street Huntington Beach.
