Tartan Girls Volleyball Repeats as Portola Tournament Champs
St. Margaret's captured the crown without conceding a set.
St. Margaret's girls volleyball program notched its second consecutive Portola Volleyball Tournament championship, defeating El Dorado High School in the final.
The Tartans' hitting efficiency throughout the tournament maintained a solid .307 while also producing a serving success rate of 88.4%. Brady Moseley led with 60 kills, with Emerson Tingler and Maya Reddy adding to the team's efficiency, hitting .407 and .33, respectively. In addition, Sarah Jenkins contributed critical service runs in the semifinal and final matches.
"It was a steady performance throughout a long five-match day without dropping a single set, highlighted by a 28-26 set win over Capo Valley High School, where the team was able to fight off a few set points and find a way to win the set," said head coach Bob Yoder. "It was great to see them play their best match of the day in the finals against a skilled El Dorado team."
The Tartans will return to the court to take on league opponent Estancia High School at home on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 6:15 p.m.
