St. Margaret’s campus is buzzing this summer, as students are learning, discovering and exploring in new ways during Summer at St. Margaret’s, which kicked off on June 6.

In the first couple of weeks, preschoolers played house, climbed structures and rode trikes. Chalmers Field and the school gymnasiums were filled with happy noise and activity as sports camps for Lower School students grades 1-5 such as soccer, flag football, basketball and cheer played games and learned new skills. Middle School camps such as boys lacrosse and basketball have also taken place.

The CIF mandatory quiet period ended this week, and Upper School student-athletes returned to St. Margaret’s for sports camps. Football, boys and girls basketball, and boys and girls soccer were back this week with more sports to follow.

The classrooms had new learning opportunities in place as well, with students discovering camps about science, chess, Model UN and crafting. In Hurlbut Theater, Innovation Stage encouraged students to tell creative stories and find their own voice and confidence as actors, culminating with live performances in the Hurlbut Theater with parents in attendance.

Away from campus, the very popular SUP/Volleyball camp paddleboarded at Dana Point Harbor and played volleyball back on campus.  The new SoCal Sites camp for middle schoolers included field trips via bus and train to Chinatown in Los Angeles, Los Rios Street, San Diego and the Anaheim Packing District.

More opportunities await, and it’s not too late to register! Visit www.smes.org/summer to learn more.
