Award Ceremony Recognizes Upper School Students’ Artistic Accomplishments

The Arts at St. Margaret’s presented the 2022 US Arts Awards the Hurlbut Theater, a year-end culminating event celebrating the accomplishments of talented Upper School student-artists.
Arts faculty presented medals to the seniors who have contributed to each of the visual and performing arts disciplines. Other individual awards were presented to students of all grade levels. As Director of the Arts Darcy Rice said, “Many students were recognized in different artistic disciplines tonight, showing the variety of ways students can participate in an arts education at St. Margaret’s.”
Visual arts department chair Jesse Standlea began the evening by presenting the 3D visual arts awards. Following awards in 2D visual arts, digital photography and cinematic arts, the visual art faculty presented the annual Illumination Award.
The performing arts portion of the program began with the technical arts and the Melinda Keane Award of Excellence. Music faculty presented awards in band, orchestra and choir before Kirsten Harvey presented dance awards. Mr. Rice and Dan Pacheco recognized the 2021-2022 Cappies Critics team and celebrated achievements in the performing arts and drama program. The performing arts faculty then presented the Triple Threat Award.
After a slideshow recognizing 66 seniors who have been involved in the Arts, there was a tribute to Darcy Rice as a recognition of his more than 20 years at St. Margaret’s and for directing over 50 theater productions.
