Tartans Clip Torrey Pines 14-7 in Boys Lacrosse

In a battle of western region heavyweights, Nike / USA Lacrosse Magazine West No. 7 St. Margaret's boys lacrosse toppled No. 9 Torrey Pines 14-7 on Tartan Field Tuesday evening. The Tartans held on to a 6-4 lead at the halfway mark and never looked back. With the win, St. Margaret's improves to 15-1 on the year.
St. Margaret's offense was led by Austin Hicks (8g), Will Stahl (2g, 1a), Matt Groeninger (1g, 3a) and Owen Binder (1g, 1a). Riley Chester and William Peffer notched a goal each. Netminder Sebastien Chicas kept the Tartans in front all night, turning away 10 Falcon shots.
"I'm really proud of our team. I thought we set the tone early, and every time Torrey Pines made a push to get back in the game, our guys found ways to make plays and regain momentum," said head coach Brian Kelly. "It was a fantastic performance top to bottom."
St. Margaret's will next take on Santa Fe Christian on the road on Saturday, April 23 at 3 p.m.
