Last Second Heroics Propels Tartans Past Cathedral Catholic 16-15

Minka Martinez put the Tartans on top vs. the Dons.
St. Margaret's girls lacrosse pulled out a nail biter against visiting Cathedral Catholic, defeating the Dons 16-15 on Thursday evening. After being down 9-6 at halftime, the Tartans fought back in the second half erasing the deficit late in the game. St. Margarets and Cathedral traded scores before Minka Martinez (2g, 1a) put the Tartans ahead with six seconds left to play and sealed the win.
 
Lauren Lam (6g, 1a) and Grace Karstetter (4g, 1a) led the Tartans, with Tessa Grosshans, Grace Burke and Thalia Pollard contributing two goals each. Kaitlin McCrae made 10 saves for the Tartans.
 
"It was a super competitive game that showed our team's grit and determination to win. After being face guarded all evening, Minka Martinez scored the game-winning goal with 6 seconds left on the clock," said head coach Megan Armes. "Safe to say, it'll be a game we'll carry with us for the rest of the season!"
 
With the win, St. Margaret's improves to 10-1 and will next face Sage Creek High School on the road on Saturday, April 2.
