St. Margaret's pulled off a huge win this past weekend.
St. Margaret's surf team had a big win this past weekend, downing Laguna Beach 44-42 in Scholastic Surf Series competition in Huntington Beach.
The Tartans relied on a total team effort to beat the Breakers, receiving critical points from each St. Margaret's competitor. Kate Taylor and Heidi Tufo led the way in their longboard and shortboard events, with Tufo finishing sixth in longboard.
In men's longboard, Braden Nock finished second and Michael Cuda third, with Luke Newman showing his versatility by picking up points for the Tartans in his first longboard heat.
In shortboard action, Newman, Jack Tomlinson and Jonah Mackenzie supported while Charlie Denham and Michael Cuda finished second and third, respectively. Ethan Sharifian rounded out the scoring for the Tartans, finishing second in the bodyboarding competition.
The Tartans finish the regular season with a 4-1 record and will next compete at the State Championships in April.
