Tartan Girls Soccer Bounces Back With 3-1 Win Over Sage Hill

The St. Margaret’s girls soccer team returned to form Thursday evening, defeating hosts Sage Hill School 3-1. The league victory allowed the Tartans to regroup after a hard-fought 2-4 loss to The Webb Schools on Jan. 25. With the win, the Tartans improve to 5-2 in league play.

St. Margaret's got on the board early, with Julia Olosky hammering a shot in from 30 yards out 10 minutes after the start of play. Olosky then assisted on Ava Gardner's goal to make it 2-0 Tartans with six minutes left in the first half. Sage Hil fought back to make it interesting in the second half, scoring on a penalty with 20 minutes left to play. 15 minutes later, Caroline Gunderson sealed it for St. Margaret's, scoring a beautiful goal off a header.

"This week is one of the toughest weeks this program has seen. Playing four matches in seven days is no easy feat for any team, but the team has shown resiliency, grit and determination," said head coach Jennifer Anderson-Hammond. "The win against Sage was a true team win. Really proud of the effort that the team put in last night."

The Tartans will face Sage Hill School at home on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 6 p.m.
