Tartan Football Advances to CIF-SS Final With 23-13 Comeback Win

The Tartans prevailed in a close-fought battle Friday evening.
St. Margaret's football program punched its ticket to the CIF-SS Div. IX Final with a thrilling 23-13 win over visiting Claremont High School. The Tartans were held out of the endzone for three quarters before Will Stahl broke the game wide open with a touchdown catch with 2:11 left to play in the game. Stahl immediately followed up the score with a pick-six on the ensuing Wolfpack possession to seal it for the Tartans.

Quarterback Jack Ruff kept the Tartans moving all evening, throwing for 208 yards on 21 completions with one touchdown.  Will Stahl was Ruff's go-to target on the night, catching nine balls for 138 yards and the game-winning TD.

Placekicker Sean Olvera-Harle was a bright spot for the Tartans, making three field goals, including a 49 yarder that gave the Tartans their first lead, 9-7 in the third quarter.

The Tartan defense stepped up when it needed to, keeping the Wolfpack at bay late in the game and giving the offense a chance to win it late.

With the win, the Tartans return to the CIF Finals for the first time since 2014 and will face Colony High School for the title. Colony High will host the game on Friday, Nov. 26. Kickoff is tentatively slated for 7 p.m. Please consult the Tartan Athletics website for all the details as they become available.
