St. Margaret’s Proudly Presents the Class of 2021, Heading to 64 Colleges and Universities

St. Margaret’s Episcopal School is proud to present the Class of 2021 on the eve of their official graduation date this Saturday, June 5. These 98 graduating seniors will matriculate to 64 colleges and universities in 24 states, as well as one university in France. Twenty-eight seniors will attend a college or university in California, while 72 percent of the class venturing to out-of-state institutions in places like New York (10), Pennsylvania (8), Massachusetts (7), Illinois (5) and Texas (5).

“Once again, I am eminently proud of our students’ success,” said Roland Allen, St. Margaret’s director of college counseling. “This year’s seniors have shown grace and resilience as they faced uncommon and unexpected challenges. My fellow college counselors, Amy Warren and Jeff Jablonski, join me in wishing this class good luck as they head off to their respective colleges and universities.”

College choices by the Class of 2021 include Stanford University, Dartmouth College, Cornell University, Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University, Johns Hopkins University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Pennsylvania, University of Michigan, University of California-Los Angeles, Northwestern University and New York University.

In all, 21 colleges and universities will enroll two or more Tartans, a list which includes Boston University (4), University of Michigan (4), University of Wisconsin (3), Northwestern University (3), University of Southern California (3), Southern Methodist University (3), Tulane University (3), Cornell University (3), and University of California, Santa Barbara (3).

The college application process has been unlike any other this year, as the global pandemic has caused unforeseen shifts in the landscape and paused traditional touchpoints like college representative visits to St. Margaret’s. Despite the challenges, 100 percent of the Class of 2021 will enroll in a college or university next year.

“The class of 2021 is moving into the world not only with a world-class high school education, but an added layer of grit and resilience because of what they have experienced,” Upper School Principal Jeneen Graham said. “I am most grateful to the professional community who tirelessly supported them and helped them achieve so many dreams. The Class of 2021 will be missed, but never forgotten.”
