Lower School Remote Learners Engage in Pre-Mother’s Day Breakfast Cooking Class
Mrs. Lopez and Mrs. Johnson taught the mathematical concepts that go into food preparation, such as the importance of accurate measuring and counting, making for a fun learning event.
With eggs, vanilla extract, milk, butter, bread and other ingredients at the ready, the Lower School’s remote learners enjoyed a community time cooking lesson where they learned to make French Toast in preparation for Mother’s Day this weekend.
The Lower School remote learning students are taught by Gabriela Lopez (kindergarten, grades 1 and 2) and Lauren Johnson (grades 3, 4 and 5). While the grades all meet separately for their academics, they come together frequently for community time, with the students enjoying the opportunity to interact with Tartans from different grades. This week, the community time centered around learning a Mother’s Day activity.
Besides the joy that goes into making delicious food, Mrs. Lopez and Mrs. Johnson taught the mathematical concepts that go into food preparation, such as the importance of accurate measuring and counting, making for a fun learning event.
“Our remote learning teachers are phenomenal and have made this year so, so amazing for these at-home learners,” Lower School Principal Jennifer Blount said. “Our remote students have done a wonderful job in such an unusual school year, too. We are so proud of them and all of their hard work.”
