St. Margaret’s Early Childhood School Leaders Present at NAES Leadership Day

St. Margaret’s Early Childhood School Director Cris Lozon and Outdoor Classroom teacher Jennifer Hardison were featured presenters at the National Association of Episcopal Schools’ Early Childhood Education Leadership Day this week.

The virtual workshop brought together directors, division heads, rectors and school board chairs from NAES-member schools for a day of learning and conversation. Dr. Lozon and Dr. Hardison were the day’s main presenters, speaking on research-based early childhood practices as an opportunity for schools to distinguish their programs.

Dr. Lozon and Dr. Hardison also took part in discussions on how early childhood programs are planning for the 2021-2022 school year both programmatically and financially.

“The information was well-received and confirmed their own intuitive practices through neuroscience and theoretical constructivist practices,” Dr. Lozon said. “The practices shared on early childhood research held to the identity of Episcopal schools in honoring every human being, including very young children, and hold to the mission of educating hearts and minds through play.”

The NAES supports, serves and advocates for the vital work and ministry of nearly 1,200 Episcopal schools in the United States—including St. Margaret’s--by providing essential services, resources, conferences and networking opportunities. The Early Childhood Education Leadership Day is one of many programs the organization conducts, which includes a biennial conference that St. Margaret’s school leaders regularly attend.
