Lower School Honors Veterans in School Community Through Video Interviews

St. Margaret’s Lower School devoted its Veterans Day Chapel homily to honoring and learning more about veterans of the armed services, which included interviews with three Lower School parents who served in the United States armed forces.
The interviews were conducted by Lower School students, who asked the veterans questions about their service and the rewards, challenges, lessons learned and what they have taken with them from their time in the military. The veterans interviewed include Peter Carey (Marine Corps), Lydia Shapiro (Navy) and Shawn Collins (Navy). Mr. Carey, in addition to being a Lower School parent, works as an Upper School grades 9 and 10 boys dean and boys soccer coach at St. Margaret’s.
Mrs. Shapiro and Mr. Collins were interviewed by their children, all St. Margaret’s Lower School students.
“We are grateful for Mr. Carey, Mrs. Shapiro and Mr. Collins for their generosity in taking time to share their experiences as veterans and we thank them for their service,” Lower School Director of Community Life Tupper Spring said. “Students are eager to honor their service and learn more about the experiences, perspectives, families and commitment they made to protect our country.”
