Students Run a ‘Car Wash’ to Clean Lower School Outdoor Classroom Equipment

The activity served to involve students in St. Margaret’s new protocols, while also reinforcing the need for cleanliness in a fun way.
As a way to make enhanced cleaning protocols fun, students in grade 1 and grade 2 took part in a “car wash” Friday to clean and disinfect the Lower School Outdoor Classroom’s popular tricycles.

The activity served to involve students in St. Margaret’s new protocols, while also reinforcing the need for cleanliness in a fun way.

“Our young students love to clean, especially if they are allowed to use the hose,” Lower School K-1 science teacher Erin Moore said. “This was a fun way for students to assist with the school’s efforts, and they are eager to help moving forward.”

The Lower School Outdoor Classroom has been revamped as part of the school’s Every Tartan, Every Day campus opening plan. Part of the area was converted to campus flex spaces, with the rest used for outdoor play and hands-on nature-based learning. St. Margaret’s added new hand-washing and hand-sanitizer stations in the outdoor classroom as part of the campus facilities and environment virus risk mitigation approach
