Grade 5 Students Celebrated as They Bid Farewell to Lower School

St. Margaret’s Lower School celebrated and bid farewell to its grade 5 students as they leave their red sweaters behind and begin their transition to Middle School.

 

Lower School faculty, including grade 5 teachers Todd Clarke, Erika Higgins and Rachel Stephens, set up a yearbook and gift bag distribution with special surprises for the Class of 2027 students. The gift bags included a customized blanket with photos from each class, personalized St. Margaret’s water bottles, the lyrics to the Grade 5 Ode written by the teachers, inflatable shoes, and a box of Scottie dog shortbread cookies.

 

The Lower School also had a final Chapel this week that was dedicated to grade 5 students. It included an original song and lyrics by Mr. Clarke, a homily by Lower School Principal Jennifer Blount and a video sharing the name and photo of each student.

 

The grade 5 leadership students on Core Council, Arts Committee, Green Team and PAWsitive Character students continued meeting virtually and contributing as leaders with the weekly video and a weekly recorded pledge of allegiance throughout remote learning. The students received gift cards and notes of gratitude thanking them for their contributions as Lower School leaders.

 

St. Margaret’s has scheduled a red sweater toss and ice cream social for August with the rising grade 6 and Lower School teachers, in hopes of continuing a tradition where the Lower School red sweaters are worn one final time and tossed into the air.
