Winter Sports Update

The Tartans are closing out the regular season with an eye towards postseason competition.
Boys Basketball

St. Margaret's wrapped the league season with an undefeated record and the Academy League title. The Tartans are currently ranked No. 4 in CIF-SS Division IV AA and will host a first-round home playoff game on February 12.

St. Margaret's has been led by the stellar play of Anthony Constantino, Will Kenner and Charlie Wohlgemuth and will rely on a balanced scoring attack through the playoffs.

Girls Basketball

The Tartans fell just shy of securing a postseason bid but had a lot to be proud of this year. As a young team and comepting in one of the toughest leagues in Orange County, St. Margaret's relied on veterans Jackie Mok, Mandy Taylor, Tiana Pavia and Mary Smith. Alice Korolev led the team in scoring with 233 points and was an active threat from beyond the three-point line.

The coaching staff is looking forward to seeing this young team develop and dominate the court next season.

Boys Soccer

The Tartans secured the league title with a 7-0 rout of visiting Webb School on February 5. St. Margaret's is currently unranked in CIF-SS standings but is looking to make a deep run in the postseason.

St. Margaret's is led by goal leader Matt Groeninger and assist leader Dean Chong. Goalkeeper Ian Schulze has been a stalwart for the Tartans while the backline of Sean Sullivan and Jake Black have kept opponents at bay.

Girls Soccer

League champion St. Margaret's is looking to repeat the success of the 2018-2019 campaign with a deep playoff run starting next week. Currently ranked No. 2 in CIF-SS Division III, the Tartans have eyes set firmly on the prize.

St. Margaret's will look to lean on veterans Juliet Ballard, Charlotte Jones and Ella Kang through the postseason.

"We are feeling confident going into the postseason. We've bolstered our roster with adding stand out players from JV and excited to see the bid next week," said head coach Jenny Anderson-Hammond. "We appreciate our community's continuous support for our program. Go Tartans!"

Equestrian

The Tartan equestrian team finished out the 2019-2020 OCIEL season with strong showings on January 18 and 19. St. Margaret's currently sits at No. 3 at the jv level (390 pts.) and No. 4 at the varsity level (285 pts.)

Surf

St. Margaret's Surf Team has had an impressive 2019-20 season thus far. Currently undefeated with a 3-0 record with only two more competitions left in the season, the Tartans are looking to continue their fluid approach.

Mens Shortboard division: Jake Vandenburg ranked No. 1 and Aiden Rooney ranked No. 5 (out of 27)
Mens Longboard division: Andrew McAleer ranked No. 1, Michael Cuda ranked No. 4, and Benton Barlow No. 8 (out of 16)
Womens Longboard division: Kennedy Barlow ranked No. 4 (out of 10)
Womens Shortboard: Kennedy Barlow ranked No. 5 (out of 11)
Coed Bodyboard: Eli Bernstein ranked No. 1 (out of 9)

The Tartans take on Pacifica Christian Sunday, Feb. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at San Clemente Pier.
