Girls Basketball Team Gets Tips From Coaching Legend Paul Westhead

St. Margaret's girls basketball team recently enjoyed another opportunity to learn from former professional and college coach Paul Westhead.
St. Margaret's girls basketball team had the privilege of experiencing legendary Coach Paul Westhead back on the court to run practice and give a glimpse into his famous offensive philosophy.

Coach Westhead has coached both men and women at the high school, collegiate, NBA and WNBA level and is most well-known for his "run and gun" style known "The System". Most recently, Westhead has been working in connection with the NBA traveling all over the world to bring global awareness of the great game of basketball to those who may have limited exposure or resources. The visit to St. Margaret's marks the second time Coach Westhead was able to impart some valuable lessons on the court to the Tartans. The players also enjoyed hearing stories about Coach Westhead's favorite teams, players and the lessons he has learned along the way about the importance of service, education and family.

"Coach Westhead's humor and effort to connect with each girl executing his drills was an education for the players but also for us as coaches," said assistant coach Lori Fava. "He was able to get the girls excited about his fast break system that I know will help our young team moving forward."
