Early Childhood School Director Cris Lozon Published in International Academic Journal

The article discussed the power of play-based learning in advancing science and engineering concepts, and how responsive teacher language can further extend student engagement.
Drawing on her expertise in research-based early-childhood education, St. Margaret’s Early Childhood School director Cris Lozon authored a piece titled “The Potential of Purposeful Play: Using the Lens and Language of Crosscutting Concepts to Enhance the Science and Engineering Practices of Play” that was published in the International Journal of the Whole Child this month.
 
Dr. Lozon co-wrote the piece with Dr. Jacqueline Brooks, professor emerita of teaching, literacy and leadership at Hofstra University. They write about the power of play-based learning in advancing science and engineering concepts, and how responsive teacher language can further extend student engagement.
 
The IJWC publishes national and international practices and policies that advance innovative education and support children's well-being.
