Tartan Volleyball Continues to Show Mettle in Early-Season Play

St. Margaret’s starts strong despite a challenging schedule.
St. Margaret's volleyball team has had a tremendous start to the 2019 campaign. The CIF-SS Div. III No. 5 Tartans are 2-1 against non-league opponents and also captured the Portola Hills Tournament crown and came in second in the vaunted Dave Mohs Memorial Tournament.

The Tartans swept a talented Mission Viejo squad 3-0 on Sept. 3 behind kill leader Emmy Flornes (15 k). Liv Hale (12 K), Mary Collier (5 a) and Avery Clarke (4 a) overwhelmed the Diablos in the win.

St. Margaret's had a productive weekend, finishing second in Division II of the Dave Mohs Tournament. The Tartans defeated Bishop Montgomery, Marina High, University High, Brea Olinda and Rancho Christian before falling to perennial power Palos Verdes in the final. Emmy Flornes and Jalyn Chun were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Tartans will continue play at home vs. Beckman on Sept. 10. Match time is set for 5:15 p.m.
