Girls Lacrosse Bests San Diego Power Torrey Pines High

The Tartans defeated the Falcons 10-9 on the road on Thursday.
St. Margaret's girls lacrosse program picked up a big win on Torrey Pines High School's home field, beating the Falcons 10-9 in an intersectional contest Thursday night.

Trailing 6-3 at the half, the Tartans stormed back to tie the game 9-9 with little time left in the second half. Senior Maddie Barkate sunk the game-winner to improve St. Margaret's record to 5-3.

St. Margaret's offense was led by Barkate's three goals, followed by Jordie Miles (3g, 1a) and Niki Miles (2g, 2a). Audrey Larson and Grace Karstetter added a goal each.

Defensively, the Tartans received another solid game from goalkeeper Olivia Young who was tenacious outside the crease and recorded six saves on the evening. Niki Miles added six groundballs and two caused turnovers while Ashlee Caruana contributed five groundballs and two caused turnovers. Barkate was stellar at the x, bringing down five draw controls, accompanied by Karstetter's three draw controls.

The Tartans will next take on Northern California opponent Novato High School on April 9, on Tartan Field at 4:30 p.m.
