St. Margaret's Crowned SoCal Girls Soccer Regional Champs

The Tartans battled back to defeat La Salle 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
For St. Margaret's, revenge was sweet as the Tartans fought hard to claim the SoCal Soccer Regional title 2-1 over La Salle College Prep on Saturday afternoon.

Overcoming the mental hurdle of a loss to La Salle in the CIF Div. IV Finals, the Tartans came from behind to secure the victory. Conceding an early goal, it took St. Margaret's until the 60th minute for Charlotte Jones to nail the equalizer on a tremendous 25-yard strike from a free kick. Momentum quickly swung in St. Margaret's favor as Jasper Adams fed Juliet Ballard streaking down the left sideline who deftly lobbed the ball over the La Salle Keeper for the 2-1 go-ahead score.

The Tartan defense, led by Jones and keeper Kennedy Barlow secured the victory margin for St. Margaret's as time expired. The win marks the first SoCal Regional Championship in girls soccer for the 23-2-4 Tartans.

"Extremely proud of our team today, to go down early and come back and finish the job was phenomenal," said head coach Johnny Marmelstein. "It was an evenly matched game, similar to the CIF Final, but to win today made it all the more sweeter."
