Tartan Baseball Notches 3-2 Comeback Win

St. Margaret's defeated a talented Redlands East Valley Squad on Monday.
The Tartan Baseball program picked up a come-from-behind 3-2 road win over hosts Redlands East Valley High School on Monday afternoon.

Down 2-1 in the 7th inning to the tough CIF-SS Div. III Wildcats, the Tartans executed a late-game bottom-of-the-order rally to pull out the win. Brennan Sullivan started things for the Tartans with a 2-strike single, setting up Jack Klausner for a perfect push bunt for a hit. Following a throwing error that scored Sullivan to tie the game, Sebastian Salazar scored Klausner on a clutch 2-strike hit to win it for the Tartans.

"It was a ‘small ball’ rally that we've worked on daily but lacked in games all year," said head coach Scott Wallis. "I'm proud of the work the guys have put in this season to get better every day, and it's starting to show in our attention to detail and the improvement of our infield defense."

Pitcher Charley Gianulias had another dominant appearance on the bump for the Tartans with 6 innings pitched, 4 hits, 1 earned run and 6 strikeouts. Colin Kleinhanzl threw a solid final inning to pick up the save.

The 6-8 (4-4 in league) Tartans next face Santa Monica High School on the road on Friday, April 12, at 6 p.m.
